Trades & Services
Source: uWorkin

Full Job Description

Redline Coaches is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our maintenance team based at our workshop in Invermay on a casual basis with view to a permanent full time appointment at the successful completion of a short trial period.

About us

Redline is Tasmania’s most trusted and experienced coach company who have been operating general access services between major towns, school runs, and charter and touring services for over 90 years. In addition we provide regular public access routes across the state providing a vital connection between our cities and towns. We have operations in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie, and workshops in both Hobart and Launceston to service our fleet of over 80 vehicles.

About the role

The position requires someone who has basic mechanical knowledge to work safely with our team of mechanics and other tradespeople with various duties as required. These duties will include:

  • Undertake basic servicing tasks including oil and greasing
  • Undertaking tyre fitting and associated tasks as required
  • Assist in fitting of automotive components and refurbs
  • Undertake basic bodyworks tasks including polishing of wheels, bull bars, bumpers and Bus Bodies, and undertake cleaning and detailing duties as required
  • Assist in removal and application of livery
  • Safely undertake general workshop, cleaning tasks, and yard duties as required

The role primarily operates on a Monday to Friday basis, however we are seeking someone with flexibility around working hours to suit the availability of the fleet during touring and peak seasons.

About you

Firstly, you will need to be a hard worker who is keen to learn and who likes hands-on mechanical tasks. You will be working in a team environment so you will need to be able to get along easy with people, and you will also need to be self-motivated and able to get through your allocated jobs in a timely manner without needing supervision or follow up.

Your basic knowledge of mechanics and other basic trade skills will be put to use straight away. We expect that you will already be familiar with a range of hand and power tools such as ratchets, drills and spanners and have a basic working knowledge of engines and vehicle systems.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is keen to get in and help wherever it’s needed. This role can be a bit of a jack-of-all-trades role where you will be asked to undertake a variety of different tasks through the day in addition to what will become your regular tasks.

You will need to have a reliable way to get to and from work, including outside of normal hours so it is preferable that you have a Drivers licence and reliable transport. You will need to provide us a National Police Check, and you must also be prepared to undertake a medical including drug and alcohol testing prior to commencing. Redline also conducts regular random drug and alcohol testing as part of it’s usual operations.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should send their resume with a cover letter that introduces you. Your cover letter should tell us about your relevant mechanical skills and experience, why you are interested in the role, and why you think you would be a great fit for this role and the Redline team.
