Due to continual growth within the business, we are looking for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join the Stonyfell team on a permanent basis. The primary focus of this hands-on role will be to carry out maintenance and repair of all mobile plant, including component and machine rebuilds, breakdowns, scheduled maintenance and servicing throughout Boral quarries. This is an opportunity to work in a close and growing team environment with a multi-national organisation dedicated to the safety of its employees.

To be considered for this role, you must have the following qualifications, experience and attributes.

  • Heavy diesel mechanical trade qualification
  • High focus on Safety, accessing risk and putting appropriate controls in place
  • Experience working on and servicing Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi and Liebherr machinery
  • Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience with rebuilding hydraulic cylinders and testing
  • Experience with major components removal and installation – e.g. transmission and engines
  • Proven experience in breakdown repairs to earthmoving equipment
  • Good skills with Electrical system diagnoses and repairs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work without direct supervision.

Preferred Experience but not essential includes:

  • Experience with use of Caterpillar ET computer systems
  • Experience with the use of Caterpillar SIS WEB systems for parts and manuals
  • Fire suspension systems – servicing and repairs
  • Air-conditioning Licence
  • HR drivers Licence
  • Forklift Licence
  • Basic Computer Skills (e.g. Microsoft Suite)
