Ventia is a leading maintenance service provider supporting Australia’s Defence Force (ADF). Expand your expertise on unique vehicles and equipment and collaborate with leading professionals across a range of disciplines. As part of our contract with the Australian Government Department of Defence, Ventia provide materiel maintenance support of land-based equipment for Joint Logistics Unit (JLU).

We are currently looking for a Stores Person to join our team at Robertson Barrcks in Darwin, NT. This role would see you conducting stores tasks, account management and stocktakes, ensuring they are competent and qualified within time frames specified in Work Orders to the required Work Standards and/or the standard detailed in materiel specific instructions

The responsibilities of the position include;

Unload goods and check them against order forms
Catalogue or label items with storage details
Place goods in bins and on racks, or stack bulky items on floors
Complete orders by selecting goods from shelves and checking them off appropriate lists
Package and send out completed orders to customers
Move heavy packages using forklift machinery
Obtain details of the location and quantity of items in stock, using visual display units or computers
Enter details of received delivery slips, requisitions and invoices into computers
Count and record the number of items in store during stocktake
Advise supervisor on stock and re-ordering levels
Managing tools and equipment within the Supply Customer Account/s on the Commonwealth Mandated Information System and on Asset Registers
Contributing to collaborative innovation by identifying continuous improvement initiatives
Operating plant and machinery as required and provided by the Commonwealth to perform stores tasks
Performing additional work related responsibilities as directed by Supervisors, such as; first aid attendant, safety committee representative, unit fire team representative and/ or member of a business improvement team.
Manage stores function in accordance with Defence Electronic Supply Chain Manual, including scheduling and undertaking stocktakes of Defence and Broadspectrum equipment and machinery.
Ensure competency skills and licences are maintained and attend appropriate training
Assist with maintenance record keeping and documentation
Participate in monthly Toolbox Meetings
Maintaining housekeeping of stores areas
Assist the Site Supervisor with HSE Site Inspections
Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Site Supervisor or JLU Manager consistent with the employee skill and competence level.

Skills & Experience

Experience in a technically related work, preferably part qualified in a Certificate of Trade
Proficiency, relevant to the trade environment they will be working in
Demonstrated experience stores accounting or commercial equivalent
Possess a current Australian State or Territory open drivers licence for C - classes of vehicles
Possess a current Australian State or Territory licence for operating forklifts
Possess a current State open drivers licence for Medium Rigid (“MR”) classes of vehicles
Good communication, problem solving, writing and analysis skills
Well-developed computer skills in Microsoft and Defence systems desirable
Relevant professional qualifications are desirable

The incumbent to this role must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance up to the level of Negative Vetting Level 1. As a result of this requirement the incumbent must be an Australian Citizen
