Ambulance Victoria (AV) currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Officer to join our Specialist Services division on a permanent ongoing basis, based in Ballarat.

About the role

Reporting to the Fleet Operation Coordinator, the primary objective of this role is to maintain vehicles and associated equipment operated by Ambulance Victoria in a manner that maximises their operational availability and performance in the Ballarat region.

The main duties of the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Plan and allocate vehicle repair and service requirements within the Ballarat region
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained to AV service standards
  • Co-ordinate and assist in the repairs and fitting of radios/telephones and accessories as well as the scheduling and efficient changeover of vehicles
  • Generate and maintain records using the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS)
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Maintain adequate stock levels for efficient vehicle maintenance

About You

The successful candidate will ideally be a qualified Motor Mechanic, with qualifications and experience with diesel powered vehicles. Two years post qualification experience is highly desirable. Demonstrable ability to work with peers in a participative manner and the ability to develop an environment of co-operation to achieve optimisation of results.

The ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with periodic demands will see you succeed in this role. Current Victorian Drivers Licence and computer experience with Microsoft based programs are essential.

This position is classified under the AEAV award at $77,096.45 plus 9.5% superannuation.
