Full Time Motor Mechanic – Glenroy VIC

VIV MOTOR CARE CENTRE requires a full-time mechanic for employment in our Glenroy workshop.

We require a full time motor mechanic with the right attitude and skills with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a minimum of a Cert IV qualification or equivalent in substantial experience. Salary of $54000 + 9.5% super for this full-time position. 

You will undergo the following responsibilities and tasks.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Servicing cooling system, flushing and changing radiator, hoses and water pump, brakes, transmission. 
  • Changing of engine oil filters, fuel filter engine and transmission mounts; 
  • Check and repair suspensions of automotive vehicles. 
  • Repairing or replacing worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials; 
  • Removing and fitting differential, repairing and servicing of differential and driving shafts. 
  • Checking parts and referring to manuals as necessary. 
  • Diagnosing, repairing and replacing engine management, fuel injection components; tuning engines and making fine adjustments for smoother running. 
  • Attending phone calls and putting the stock (for example brakes, sparkplugs, oil filters) at the proper places; 
  • Checking the overall electric power of various electric units such as headlight, parking light, sidelight, stop light, direction light, roof light etc. 
  • Coordinating with other mechanics where teamwork was needed; 
  • Maintain and manage tools, equipment and machinery in good condition. 
  • Reviewing work orders 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a relevant Certificate IV or equivalent in substantial experience.

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a motor mechanic

Essential Skills and Requirements:

  • Demonstrated light vehicle repair, service and maintenance skills including a solid understanding of petrol, engines, suspension, transmission, steering and braking systems
  • Ability to read and interpret a broad range of vehicles service manuals
  • Ability to use computers for the purpose of diagnosing faults and testing vehicle parts
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to prioritise workload to ensure customer and management deadlines are met
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical mechanical issues to a broad audience.
