JOB DESCRIPTION

NSW Mid North Coast Company is looking to hire an experienced drill rig operator for an immediate start. The position is primarily to carry out Rotary and mud drilling operations plus SPT sampling and testing. Applicants will be required to be physically fit and healthy and capable of working labour intensive roles that are physically demanding. Must be capable of performing repetitive movements and heavy lifting outdoors in various weather conditions.

Candidates with a demonstrated history of working to strict safety and quality standards in a field leadership capacity are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience with Waterwell drilling is an advantage. A passion for drilling and a hard working attitude is essential

Our company provides a range of services including electronic locating, vacuum excavation and CCTV operations. Opportunities to work across these services is available to suitable applicants and will assist with continuity of available working hours should it be required.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Efficiently complete drilling programs to client requirements
  • Equipment servicing and maintenance,
  • Equipment and consumables management,
  • Operation of drill rig and support equipment,
  • Working productively and safely.
  • Conducting Daily pre-start equipment checks
  • Provide safety leadership and assisting team members with the development of thorough risk assessments, critical control verifications and job safety analysis.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to develop your offsider(s); including addressing performance and conduct issues.
  • Coordinate and allocate work as required to meet drilling plans and run rates in the most cost effective/efficient way while meeting safety compliance requirements, including the co-ordination of relief team members as required.
  • Ensuring mechanical availability of assets through basic maintenance, reporting process, and effective prestart and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Liaise with the Project Leader regarding the progress of the drilling program.
  • Conduct reviews of employee performance in line with overall organisational strategy and development.
  • Participate in drilling Contractor toolbox meetings and Geology safety meetings to ensure that all relevant successes and opportunities for improvement are effectively communicated, and that feedback from the Contractor is registered and actioned upon where necessary.
  • Lead investigations of all incidents / hazard management issues that occur in the work area and on shift and ensure effective corrective actions are identified, implemented and monitored in a timely and productive manner.
  • Willingness to work with a wide variety of equipment

  • Willingness to perform both shop based and field based work

Required Skills & Experiences

  • Medium Rigid Drivers Licence (Unrestricted)
  • Cert III in Drilling Operations
  • Previous proven Drilling experience
  • Able to interpret plans and drawings relevant to their function
  • Able to successfully pass a pre-employment medical and full physical functional fitness assessment to company standards
  • Successfully pass random drug & alcohol screenings
  • Be physically fit and prepared to undertake manual duties
  • Have the ability to work well in small teams
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to safety
  • Construction White Card
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Employment references (will be validated)

Advantage but not essential

  • Waterwell license (Mud Rotary/ Air Rotary) Class 2 or Class 3
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate, or be willing to obtain
