About the role

We are seeking a full-time Wagon Maintainer with Fabricator/Welder experience, based in Greater Sydney based out of out Minto location. Reporting to the Wagon Manager, the Wagon Maintainer will be required to provide in field inspection, repair, and refurbishment of railway freight wagons in accordance with established procedures and protocols, assuring a safe working environment and compliance with Rail Safety and OH&S regulations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Trade qualifications: Mechanical Fitter, Boilermaker, Fabrication / Welder.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in wagon maintenance covering, intermodal and grain hoppers or a Mechanical trades qualification. Experience with field and workshop maintenance of rolling stock
  • Track access RIW card, driving license
  • Full train inspection procedures (FX) conduct and sign off, test train braking systems
  • Familiarity with diverse brake systems Wabtec, Knorr Bremse and 120, 130 and 150 Chinese systems.
  • Inspection and repair of wagons for 28 day preventative maintenance principally recording of defects, replacing brake shoes
  • Inspection and repair of wagons for A and B services cycles of inspections are fleet dependant. Will require brake set up and welding experience
  • Completion and submission of detailed reports recording the status of wagons
  • Reporting of wagon faults into Qube Train Management System
  • Available for evening and weekend call outs on a weekly rotational schedule and a flexible approach completing allocated tasks.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo training as required, provide a current police check to obtain an MSIC card, and undertake a Pre Employment Medical and drug & alcohol screening.

Please note this role is based at our Minto Depot and travel to other locations will be required.
