Job description: About The Role

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the role of the Traffic Signals Electrician is to achieve optimum production and cost outcomes through the management of direct labour and subcontractors in a healthy and safe work environment conducting day to day construction activities as part of work packages.

This position supports the Construction Manager with an onsite presence to supervise Staff and Subcontractors in the day to day construction activities as per the agreed scope and design documents. 

What you’ll be doing:

This position requires the successful candidate to undertake and self-perform any/all activities as required by the scope of works. This includes activities like preventative and reactive mainenance of traffic signalling, cable hauling, terminations, electrical work, physical labour, working on elevated platforms and other activities.

Other responsibilities include but not limited to are:
* Targeting zero incidents/injuries to people and equipment 
* Monitoring SH&E performance within area of responsibility, 
* Ensuring all staff and contractors are appropriately trained and inducted into the company’s SH&E standards and comply with the company’s SH&E
* Continuously oversee work, analyse production methods and production performance against the schedule, monitoring performance and re-assessing efficiency and quality, taking appropriate correct action where necessary
* Assessing activities, ensuring a balance between cost and production to meet objectives and time constrictions
* Understanding contractual obligations of the company and subcontractors
* Planning and scheduling own and team’s work to meet required timelines and outputs through prioritising activities against daily program and liaison with appropriate project staff
* Understanding daily work program and directing / allocating staff and contractors as appropriate
* Creating and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders,
* Clarifying key stakeholder needs and allocating resources to ensure the delivery of effective outcomes within project/contract boundaries
* Measuring and reporting on progress against project plans, and gain authorisation, track and report all variations to contract schedules and work volumes.

About You
* Ideally a minimum of 3 years’ experience on traffic signals experience 
* Strong leadership in safety 
* Extensive experience working on roads and major freeways
* Strong abilities in performing electrical work 
* A good working knowledge of AS/NZ3000 and other electrical and telecommunication standards
* Have a valid A-Grade Electrical Licence
* Willing to undertake a medical and police check
* Hold an unrestricted car licence
