Naval Group Australia (NGA) is seeking a suitably experienced Security Manager to join the Attack Class submarine program, the largest and most ambitious defence acquisition program Australia has ever undertaken. Professional challenges don’t come any bigger than this!

In this critical role, you will lead a team of customer-focussed security specialists who are located across our Keswick and Port Adelaide sites and engage stakeholders at all levels of our organisation providing guidance and advice on security matters in a manner that fosters and encourages a strong security culture. Your overall focus will be to ensure that Naval Group Australia’s Defence Industry Security Program is maintained and our future security requirements are accounted for. 

More specifically, you will:

  • Encourage and foster a strong security culture across the organisation through leading by example and setting high standards of customer service for the team
  • Advise the business on current and future security requirements with regards to costs, staffing, operational and facility security measures
  • In conjunction with the Head of Security, oversee the protection of Naval Group sensitive information and IP
  • Develop, enhance and maintain a relationship with local regulatory personnel
  • Provide regular reporting, analysis and recommendations relating to the Security Department performance and service desk activities


To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Formal qualifications in a security-related discipline plus any other relevant qualification in intelligence, auditing and investigations or similar
  • Ability to demonstrated in-depth level knowledge of Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and ISO 31000 - Risk Management is essential
  • Experience leading a team of security specialists within a large defence project environment whilst maintaining a strong customer-service focus
  • Proven experience working effectively with a variety of stakeholders throughout the business including senior management


You must be eligible to attain an NV2 Australian Defence Security Clearance. (Please visit the ASGVA website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/factsheets-forms.asp for further information relating to obtaining and maintaining a security clearance).

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is applicable and as such your nationality may be a factor in establishing your suitability for this role.
