We have a permanent opportunity for Coordinator Network Services based in Townsville. In this role you will be responsible for co-ordinating and providing technical support for scheduled maintenance, repair and installation (minor) of all telecommunications systems and equipment.

This role is responsible for the telecommunications service delivered on the North Coast Line from Rockhampton North and Great Northern Rail Townsville to Mt Isa as required.

Currently the team works a 9-day fortnight between the hours of 0715 and 1615 hours.

About the role:
Implement and monitor preventative maintenance and rectification programs based on quality improvement principles.
Inspect and report regularly on the telecommunications systems and equipment being maintained to ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant standards, practices, and procedures.
Provide a pro-active response to rectify system faults thus minimising network down time and carry out the investigation of systems faults and operational anomalies as required.
Manage day to day administration of staff and monitor staff performance, inventory and assets.
Provide co-operative liaison with staff in other sections and districts for effective maintenance, installation and fault repair of the telecommunications systems and equipment, the emphasis being on customer service.
Assist in budget preparation, monitor and control expenditure and ensure that adequate stores and materials are on hand to allow maintenance and fault rectification works to be carried out in an effective, efficient and safe manner.
Assist the Supervisor in ensuring compliance with Legislation applicable to the work group and its activities including workplace health and safety, environment, employment and anti-discrimination, trade practices and contracting.

About you:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate substantial knowledge of telecommunications systems and networks relevant to railway operations. Ideally this will be complimented by relevant qualifications including Certificate IV Telecommunications and ACMA Base Cabling License. In addition, you will need:

Ability to undertake overtime and standby work.
Current Queensland manual driver’s license.
Experience supervising staff, work activities and resources.
Experience carrying out technical investigations, implementing improvement initiatives, undertaking audits and monitoring performance on telecommunications systems.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Sound knowledge of budget monitoring and control techniques.
Sound knowledge of the relevant Legislation as applicable to the work group and its activities.
Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.
